Token for Pastors

A central conference of pastors in our district is in the offing. The 3-day conference will be held in our church. Members have been assigned tasks to make the event will be successful and glitch-free. A cousin has been assigned to take care of the small tokens to be given to the pastors. I suggested thatUnique Christian Gifts be considered. I told my cousin to skip over to www.greatisthelord.net and look at a truly inspirational pen set. We could further personalize the pens by inscripting the names of the pastors. This is a highly functional gift too as the pen is used all the time by ministers. Great gift.

Married People Chat Too

I was online and was in one social networking site one late night and guess who I saw logged in at midnight? My son! He was supposed to be studying for an exam and there he was chatting the night or early morning away. When I IM him he said he was on 'recess'. What's with online chatting? People, young and old seem to be hooked on online chatting. It has become the preferred way of communicating aside from text messaging.

There are a lot of chat rooms and sites online today. Name your specifications and chances are there is a chat room for you. When online chatting was new I used to frequent the known sites then and hop from one room to another looking for interesting people to interact with. Not much luck there as the 'chatters' were diverse. Today there are a lot of chat rooms that suit one's needs and status. I have heard of Married Chat Rooms where married people can meet and chat. It would be nice to exchange ideas and maybe stories with married people of different ages and nationalities. Membership is free. I guess I better consider joining this group of web chatters.

Would You Run?

Imagine this happening to you.

One Sunday morning during service a
2,000 member congregation was surprised
to see two men enter...

both covered from head to toe in black
and carrying submachine guns.

One of the men proclaimed.
"Anyone willing to take a bullet for Christ
remain where you are."

Immediately, the choir fled..

the deacons fled...

and most of the congregation fled...

Out of the 2,000, only 20 remained.

The man who has spoken took off his hood...
He looked at the preacher and said,
"Okay pastor, I got rid of all the hypocrites...
Now you may begin your service."

Extra Protection

I once heard two church mates argue about getting an insurance for the church's building. One argued that we should not get one for surely the Lord's house is protected against all force majeur, acts of God and others. Then other argued that it is up to us to take care of the Lord's property and getting an insurance for the church is one way. We got the insurance for the church.

I believe that it is essential and a responsible act for us to get insurances, especially life insurance. This way we take care of our family's needs in case of one's untimely demise or sickness. An insurance is extra protection for ourselves and our loved ones.

Draw Closer to God

Today's Scripture

“Come close to God, and God will come close to you…” (James 4:8, NLT).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

God promises that He will draw close to you when you draw closer to Him. How do we draw closer to Him? Here are a couple of ways:

First of all, this verse goes on to say that we must turn away from sin because sin separates us from God. Simply turning to God is the first way to draw closer to Him. Then, the Bible tells us to come into His presence with thanksgiving in our hearts and give Him praise. When you have a thankful heart, you are drawing closer to Him. And the scripture tells us that God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble. When you have a humble heart before Him, you are drawing closer to Him. When you seek Him with your whole heart, you will find Him. He will draw close to you.

Seek God today by reading your Bible, praying, meditating on His promises and worshiping Him. With an open heart, you can draw near to God, just as you are, right where you are, and He will fill You with His peace and goodness all the days of your life!

A Prayer for Today

Father in heaven, I choose to draw near to You. I open my heart and repent of anything that displeases You. Fill me with Your power to live the life You have planned for me. I bless Your name today and always. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Eyeglasses for Ethan

I finally had to take Ethan to an optometrist for eye refraction. He has been complaining of headaches and blurry vision for the past couple of months and the frequency of the complaint has been increasing these past couple of weeks. I was not really surprised to find out that Ethan is nearsighted. My son and brother were also diagnosed for nearsightedness at about the same age as Ethan is now, 6.

Ethan needs prescription eyeglasses. I know that Zenni Optical is the best online store where I could get made-to-order prescription eyewear for Ethan. The New York Times online even has an article about the ways and means of not going bankrupt because of the high cost of prescription eyeglasses and Zenni Optical was recommended as the "one" to get a backup eyeglasses. So I asked for Ethan's prescription from the optometrist so that I colud order a backup pair from www.zennioptical.com. Starting at $ 8, the pair of eyeglasses is a steal! I need to choose a hip and sturdy pair for Ethan.

I browsed the site and found the perfect frame for Ethan. It is a children's bendable titanium with Rx lenses. It is extremely light and durable with a 180 degrees full-swing hinges. The frame retains its shape well even with constant "battering" from its young user. Perfect!

Through the eyes of a Child

This was sent to me by a friend.
Have a good laugh.
I did! Then later, I wondered and pondered.

In the beginning, which occurred near the start, there was nothing but God, darkness, and some gas.The Bible says, 'The Lord thy God is one, but I think He must be a lot older than that.

Anyway, God said, 'Give me a light!' and someone did. Then God made the world. He split the Adam and made Eve. Adam and Eve were naked, but they weren't embarrassed because mirrors hadn't been invented yet.

Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating one bad apple, so they were driven from the Garden of Eden. Not sure what they were driven in though, because they didn't have cars.

Adam and Eve had a son, Cain, who hated his brother as long as he was Abel. Pretty soon all of the early people died off, except for Methuselah, who lived to be like a million or something.

One of the next important people was Noah, who was a good guy,but one of his kids was kind of a Ham.Noah built a large boat and put his family and some animals on it. He asked some other people to join him, but they said they would have to take a rain check.

After Noah came Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Jacob was more famous than his brother, Esau, because Esau sold Jacob his birthmark in exchange for some pot roast. Jacob had a son named Joseph who wore a really loud sports coat.

Another important Bible guy is Moses, whose real name was Charlton Heston.Moses led the Israel Lights out of Egypt and away from the evil Pharaoh after God sent ten plagues on Pharaoh's people. These plagues included frogs, mice, lice, bowels, and no cable.

God fed the Israel Lights every day with manicotti. Then he gave them His Top Ten Commandments. These include: don't lie, cheat, smoke, dance, or covet your neighbor's stuff.Oh, yeah, I just thought of one more: Humor thy father and thy mother.

One of Moses' best helpers was Joshua who was the first Bible guy to use spies. Joshua fought the battle of Geritol and the fence fell over on the town. After Joshua came David. He got to be king by killing a giant with a slingshot. He had a son named Solomon who had about 300 wives and 500 porcupines. My teacher says he was wise, but that doesn't sound very wise to me.

After Solomon there were a bunch of major league prophets. One of these was Jonah, who was swallowed by a big whale and then barfed up on the shore.

There were also some minor league prophets, but I guess we don't have to worry about them.

After the Old Testament came the New Testament. Jesus is the star of The New.He was born in Bethlehem in a barn.(I wish I had been born in a barn too, because my mom is always saying to me,'Close the door! Were you born in a barn?' It would be nice to say, 'As a matter of fact, I was.')

During His life, Jesus had many arguments with sinners like the Pharisees and the Democrats.Jesus also had twelve opossums. The worst one was Judas Asparagus. Judas was so evil that they named a terrible vegetable after him.Jesus was a great man. He healed many leopards and even preached to some Germans on the Mount.

But the Democrats and all those guys put Jesus on trial before Pontius the Pilot. Pilot didn't stick up for Jesus. He just washed his hands instead.

Anyways, Jesus died for our sins, then came back to life again. He went up to Heaven but will be back at the end of the Aluminum. His return is foretold in the book of Revolution.

Moral: In today's world I would not wonder if this is the perception of some kids and
even teens of today. There's just not enough time spent on reading the Bible or
for parents to read to their small children.

Drug Dilemma

My close friend was in tears as we talked over the phone. She said that her youngest son is on drugs again. I have been with my friend supporting her through all the years that her son was in the "wrong" path. After numerous rehabilitation programs, counseling and unending love and care from his family, he lapsed. This time, I think he has to go through a heroin detox program. I just hope and pray for the treatment to succeed.
