Eyeglasses for Ethan

I finally had to take Ethan to an optometrist for eye refraction. He has been complaining of headaches and blurry vision for the past couple of months and the frequency of the complaint has been increasing these past couple of weeks. I was not really surprised to find out that Ethan is nearsighted. My son and brother were also diagnosed for nearsightedness at about the same age as Ethan is now, 6.

Ethan needs prescription eyeglasses. I know that Zenni Optical is the best online store where I could get made-to-order prescription eyewear for Ethan. The New York Times online even has an article about the ways and means of not going bankrupt because of the high cost of prescription eyeglasses and Zenni Optical was recommended as the "one" to get a backup eyeglasses. So I asked for Ethan's prescription from the optometrist so that I colud order a backup pair from www.zennioptical.com. Starting at $ 8, the pair of eyeglasses is a steal! I need to choose a hip and sturdy pair for Ethan.

I browsed the site and found the perfect frame for Ethan. It is a children's bendable titanium with Rx lenses. It is extremely light and durable with a 180 degrees full-swing hinges. The frame retains its shape well even with constant "battering" from its young user. Perfect!

Through the eyes of a Child

This was sent to me by a friend.
Have a good laugh.
I did! Then later, I wondered and pondered.

In the beginning, which occurred near the start, there was nothing but God, darkness, and some gas.The Bible says, 'The Lord thy God is one, but I think He must be a lot older than that.

Anyway, God said, 'Give me a light!' and someone did. Then God made the world. He split the Adam and made Eve. Adam and Eve were naked, but they weren't embarrassed because mirrors hadn't been invented yet.

Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating one bad apple, so they were driven from the Garden of Eden. Not sure what they were driven in though, because they didn't have cars.

Adam and Eve had a son, Cain, who hated his brother as long as he was Abel. Pretty soon all of the early people died off, except for Methuselah, who lived to be like a million or something.

One of the next important people was Noah, who was a good guy,but one of his kids was kind of a Ham.Noah built a large boat and put his family and some animals on it. He asked some other people to join him, but they said they would have to take a rain check.

After Noah came Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Jacob was more famous than his brother, Esau, because Esau sold Jacob his birthmark in exchange for some pot roast. Jacob had a son named Joseph who wore a really loud sports coat.

Another important Bible guy is Moses, whose real name was Charlton Heston.Moses led the Israel Lights out of Egypt and away from the evil Pharaoh after God sent ten plagues on Pharaoh's people. These plagues included frogs, mice, lice, bowels, and no cable.

God fed the Israel Lights every day with manicotti. Then he gave them His Top Ten Commandments. These include: don't lie, cheat, smoke, dance, or covet your neighbor's stuff.Oh, yeah, I just thought of one more: Humor thy father and thy mother.

One of Moses' best helpers was Joshua who was the first Bible guy to use spies. Joshua fought the battle of Geritol and the fence fell over on the town. After Joshua came David. He got to be king by killing a giant with a slingshot. He had a son named Solomon who had about 300 wives and 500 porcupines. My teacher says he was wise, but that doesn't sound very wise to me.

After Solomon there were a bunch of major league prophets. One of these was Jonah, who was swallowed by a big whale and then barfed up on the shore.

There were also some minor league prophets, but I guess we don't have to worry about them.

After the Old Testament came the New Testament. Jesus is the star of The New.He was born in Bethlehem in a barn.(I wish I had been born in a barn too, because my mom is always saying to me,'Close the door! Were you born in a barn?' It would be nice to say, 'As a matter of fact, I was.')

During His life, Jesus had many arguments with sinners like the Pharisees and the Democrats.Jesus also had twelve opossums. The worst one was Judas Asparagus. Judas was so evil that they named a terrible vegetable after him.Jesus was a great man. He healed many leopards and even preached to some Germans on the Mount.

But the Democrats and all those guys put Jesus on trial before Pontius the Pilot. Pilot didn't stick up for Jesus. He just washed his hands instead.

Anyways, Jesus died for our sins, then came back to life again. He went up to Heaven but will be back at the end of the Aluminum. His return is foretold in the book of Revolution.

Moral: In today's world I would not wonder if this is the perception of some kids and
even teens of today. There's just not enough time spent on reading the Bible or
for parents to read to their small children.

Drug Dilemma

My close friend was in tears as we talked over the phone. She said that her youngest son is on drugs again. I have been with my friend supporting her through all the years that her son was in the "wrong" path. After numerous rehabilitation programs, counseling and unending love and care from his family, he lapsed. This time, I think he has to go through a heroin detox program. I just hope and pray for the treatment to succeed.

New Home

My friend is seriously thinking of moving to a new location. She said the hustle and bustle of the metropolis is not conducive to her present health. She's now looking at some Orange County Real Estate managed by the Oak Tree Realty Group. I wish her luck.

That You May Be Healed

Today's Scripture

“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” (James 5:16).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

Relationships are so important in the eyes of God. As His children, He desires that we live in unity and stay connected with one another. When we are transparent and pray for each other, something supernatural takes place. We open the door for God to pour out His abundant blessing and healing in our lives. When we walk in love and unity, our prayers become more effective and His power is released through us.

Living in peace and unity doesn’t mean you have to agree with everyone around you all the time. It means you look for common ground. It means you reach out to others; you pray for them and help meet their needs. When we put the needs of others first, God will make sure our own needs are abundantly supplied. When we live with a servant’s heart towards others, it opens the door for God’s complete healing, physically, spiritually, and emotionally.

A Prayer for Today

Father in Heaven, thank You for revealing Your truth to my heart. I choose Your ways above my own and ask that you open opportunities for me to pray for others and open the door for your healing power. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

True Story

His name was Fleming, and he was a poor Scottish farmer. One day, while trying to make a living for his family, he heard a cry for help coming from a nearby bog. He dropped his tools and ran to the bog.

There, mired to his waist in black muck, was a terrified boy, screaming and struggling to free himself. Farmer Fleming saved the lad from what could have been a slow and terrifying death.

The next day, a fancy carriage pulled up to the Scotsman's sparse surroundings An elegantly dressed nobleman stepped out and introduced himself as the father of the boy Farmer Fleming had saved.

'I want to repay you,' said the Nobleman. 'You saved my son's life.'

'No, I can't accept payment for what I did,' the Scottish farmer replied waving off the offer. At that moment, the farmer's own son came to the door of the family hovel.

'Is that your son?' the nobleman asked.

'Yes,' the farmer replied proudly.

'I'll make you a deal. Let me provide him with the level of education my own son will enjoy. If the lad is anything like his father, he'll no doubt grow to be a man we both will be proud of.' And that he did.

Farmer Fleming's son attended the very best schools and in time, graduated from St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in London, and went on to become known throughout the world as the noted Sir Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of Penicillin.

Years afterward, the same nobleman's son who was saved from the bog was stricken with pneumonia.

What saved his life this time? Penicillin.

The name of the nobleman? Lord Randolph Churchill. His son's name?

Sir Winston Churchill.

Someone once said: What goes around comes around.

Work like you don't need the money.

Love like you've never been hurt.

Dance like nobody's watching.

Sing like nobody's listening.

Live like its Heaven on Earth.

Of Superstitions and Traditions

It is that time of the year again were superstitions, traditions, predictions, premonitions are "fashionable". So, what disasters are in store for 2009? What fashion trends will we veer to? What volcano will erupt? When will an earthquake hit California? Will the polar shifts happen? What will happen to the economy?

In 2008 there was a prediction that there will be a massive data meltdown. Computer networks, servers, credit cards numbers will be wiped out! The stock market will plunge. The anti-Christ will appear. Somebody famous will be assassinated.

Remember the Y2K on the onset of 2000? We were all frenetic regarding the disaster that the y2k bug will bring. Matter of fact, I was really anticipating the event. What happened? Nothing!

There is a Filipino old wives's tale that jumping as the clock strikes 12 on new year will make you taller. Not true. I've been jumping since time immemorial and I'm still 4" short of my ideal height of perfection. Your height actually depends on genetics and food supplements.

There is this belief that wearing polka-dot inspired dress or shirt or panties (?) on new year will bring in lots of money.Having 12 assorted fruits on the dining table on new year will likewise bring wealth for the coming year. What about those Chinese thingies that we hang on our doors and walls to ensure good luck and prosperity for the new year? Not true.Your financial status and stability will actually depend on your hard-work and perseverance.

Many say that there is nothing wrong with following traditions and superstitions. I say there is something wrong.

Do you know that every time you put your faith and hope in something inanimate your are making God unhappy?

I do not believe in fung shui, lucky charms, traditions, superstitions, fortune tellers, and old wives's tales.

There is no power greater and mightier that God. There is no amulet or any "lucky" charm more compelling than a sincere prayer to God.

I believe in Jesus Christ. I believe in His promises. I believe in prayers.

My Faith in The Lord Jesus Christ and His unwavering grace will keep me and my family safe and secure. Lord, please bless each and everyone of us this year. Make us safe, healthy and wealthy. Amen!
