The Truth about Holodomor

What is holodomor? I encountered the word and I became curious. Holodomor is a Ukrainian word which literally means death by starvation. The great famine of 1932-33 in the Ukraine is a subject less known in history. It is one of the greatest catastrophes to hit Ukraine in modern history where an estimated 6 t0 8 million people from Central Russia,Kazhastan, Ukraine and North Caucasus died of starvation at peacetime. What happened? Russia's Joseph Stalin in his quest for industrialization and collectivization ordered the seizure of all grains from Soviet Republic's farmers and peasants. There is a school of thought that the Holodomor or more rightly, the Golodomor of 1932-33 was a genocidal famine to obliterate Ukraine. Golodomor was changed to Holodomor to make it sound as "holocaust". This is the brainchild of Ukraine's president Viktor Yuschenko in his bid to push the issue worldwide. European scholars and politicians agree that the great famine of 1932-33 was just an ineffective economic policy of the Communist under Josepg Stalin. The European Parliament has ruled in October 2008 that the Golodomor or 1932-33 was a crime cruelly planned by Stalin and his cohorts in order to force through the Soviet Union's policy of collectivization of agriculture. The European Parliament adopted a resolution that recognized Holodomor as a crime against humanity.
