My Secret

If I were to recount all the trials that life brought me, you might not believe it. If I tell you, as I seem to happily blog everyday, that I am full of problems, you might not believe me too.

But I do have problems. My life is not easy. I sometimes have sleepless nights thinking of ways and means to my problems. Nevertheless, it is seldom that you'll see me defeated. Somehow I still find the inspiration to bounce back. Why? I have a secret that is not a secret, actually.

We serve a great and mighty God. He can make a way when there seems to be no way! He was able to create the world out of nothing! How easy would it be for Him to breathe a whiff of sunlight to our sometimes dark lives. He is my secret.

There is power in your words, in your prayers. Have faith and expectancy. Let your life be filled with peace that passes all understanding. God loves you and me!

Bedtime Prayers

It is always an advantage to teach very young children to pray. I started to teach Ethan to say his prayers at an age when he can't even speak yet. I just tell him that it's time to pray to Jesus. No explanation. I was the one praying while he had his hands folded. We both say Amen at the end of the prayer.

Praying should be a habit. We should start our children on the praying habit at the earliest possible time. Here are some evening or bedtime prayers you can teach your child.

Jesus, tender Shepherd, hear me:
Bless Thy little child to-night;
Through the darkness be Thou near me,
Keep me safe till morning light.

All this day Thy hand has led me,
And I thank Thee for Thy care;
Thou hast warmed me, clothed me, fed me;
Listen to my evening prayer.

May my sins be all forgiven;
Bless the friends I love so well;
Take me, Lord, at last to heaven.
Happy there with Thee to dwell.
Amen.

The day is past and over,
All thanks, O Lord, to Thee!
O Jesus, keep me in Thy sight
And save me through the coming night.

Prayer from the Heart

Today Lord, I thank you for all the blessings
that my family and I have been receiving.
I know that inspite of all the problems and
trials that we are experiencing,
You are still with us dear Lord.

I thank you for keeping my family safe and healthy.
I thank you for the food we eat, the roof over our heads.
The many little conveniences that You provide.

I am troubled dear Lord with some concerns.
I pray that you bestow to my son, the wisdom and
Your special favor for him to hurdle his finals.

I pray that you listen to my children's voices and
hear them our dear Lord as only an Omnipotent and
Omniscient God can.

You know what are in their hearts
and I know dear Lord that You never fail.
Jesus never fails.

I claim in the mighty name of Jesus all these.

Do You Know How To Pray?

I pray from the heart. No pomp. No glamour. No audience but lots of feelings and sometimes tears. I can pray anywhere. I can pray amidst a large party or when I take a bath. I do not have to be in a church or kneeling in front of an altar to pray.

God is Omnipotent and Omniscient and Omnipresent. Meaning God is all powerful, all knowing and ever present wherever we are. Only God has these attributes.

Who do we pray to? As the book of John 14:1 says: Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

Who is the ME here? It is our Lord Jesus Christ. In John 14:6: Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

The disciples once asked Jesus, "Master, how do we pray?". To which Jesus replied: "This, then, is how you should pray:" ~ Matt:6:9.

Our Father, who art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy Name.

Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done,

On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

As we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,

and the power,

and the glory,

for ever and ever. Amen.

Patience

We pray. We implore. We beg. We get impatient. Then we get mad. This is usually the chain of events and emotions we go through when we seek for Divine Grace and intervention.

In this era of nano technology communication through electronic mails, SMS, or long distance phone calls by internet or by regular path, can be had in split second. Almost everything is automated. With a few dial twist, the laundry is done. A click of the microwave knob and the pre-cooked-frozen lasagna is good to eat in seconds. There is proliferation of one-day mail and instant-money-send shops everywhere,The sonic boom has been redefined to super sonic boom. Man is gearing for to do everything in an accelerated pace.

So used are we to the speedy conclusion of all matters that we deem the Lord is working ever so slowly to accomplish His purpose in our lives. Think. Grand designs take time. The Chinese did not build the Great Wall in a year or two. It took 20 years to finish it. The famous St. Peter's Basilica took over a 100 years to finish. The roster of architects kept redesigning and rebuilding the church for they wanted the very best for the Lord.

Great things take a long time to plan, execute and finish. Wait patiently for the Lord. He will give you what is best - in His time!
